Volunteering at The Cyber Helpline is a great way to use your skills to help people, but also a way to develop your career, gain valuable experience and do some good. All of our volunteers give just a few hours of their time a week and work remotely using online collaboration tools, so it is easy to fit in around your study or work.

As a part of The Cyber Helpline team, all volunteers receive a full induction, ongoing support, and specialised industry training.

Why volunteer with The Cyber Helpline?

Every year, millions of people are impacted by cybercrime, fraud, stalking, harassment, account compromise and other online harms. The financial and emotional toll is devastating, yet many victims are left to navigate the aftermath of cybercrime alone. As a volunteer of The Cyber Helpline, you’ll join a community that provides expert, human support when it is needed the most.

Whilst our helpline team is made up of cybersecurity experts, we welcome volunteers from all walks of life - whether you are just starting out in your career, or you are a seasoned professional in another department. What matters most is a genuine desire to help others and a commitment to treating victims with dignity and respect.

  • Our helpline responder team is largely made up of cybersecurity professionals, but we welcome volunteers from all backgrounds and experience levels to assist in other departments.

  • Most volunteers give just a few hours each week. We understand outside of volunteering you will be balancing work, study, and life commitments - our model is designed to work around your schedule.

  • Unfortunately at this time we can only accept volunteers who reside in the UK or the US.

  • Yes. All of our volunteering roles are 100% remote and use online collaboration tools, making it easy to contribute from wherever you are.

  • Absolutely. Every volunteer receives a full induction, ongoing support, and specialised industry training to help them feel confident in their role.

  • Volunteering is a great way to build experience, develop new skills, grow your network, and support your career development - while also making a real difference to people affected by cybercrime.

  • We’re looking for people who care about helping others, communicate respectfully, and want to contribute positively to the team. Technical skills can be taught, but empathy and commitment matter most.
