About us
Supporting victims of hacking, scams, and online threats
The Cyber Helpline was founded in 2018 as a movement by the cybersecurity community, built to give individuals and families better protection against a growing threat that wasn't being addressed. We saw firsthand how deeply cybercrime affects people's lives — the financial, mental and emotional toll can be devastating, yet too many victims are left to face skilled, malicious attackers on their own.
We believe all individuals should have immediate, free access to cybersecurity expertise when they need it.
That belief shaped our model: a free, 24/7 self-help service combined with a confidential helpline, powered by volunteer cybersecurity professionals.
We help individuals and sole traders understand, contain, and recover from hacking, fraud, stalking, harassment, intimate image abuse, account compromise, and other online harms.
Our vision
A future free from online harm.
Our mission
To ensure all individuals have immediate, free access to cyber expertise when they need it.
Our goals
Help victims of cybercrime understand, contain and recover from cyber attacks.
Be the authoritative voice for individuals, holding private and public sector organisations accountable for protecting users.
Provide individuals at all stages of their IT and IT security careers a way to volunteer while also gaining valuable cybersecurity skills.
Build a strong charity that can grow to meet the scale of demand for cybersecurity support.
Our values
-

We stand with victims
We meet people where they are, without judgement, and help them take back control.
-

We don’t just advise, we act
We use our expertise to understand, contain and resolve harm, not just explain it.
-

We turn experience into change
We use what we see every day to improve how cybercrime is prevented, understood and addressed.
Who we help
-
Our helpline is available for individuals in the UK or USA, aged 13 years or older.
Whether you're dealing with an issue on your own accounts or devices, or supporting someone else, like a child or family member, who is.
-
We also help sole traders who are experiencing online security issues.
Our service is for individuals and sole traders only, we do not provide support to businesses. Is your business experiencing a cybersecurity issue? Read our business breach guide.
