Empowering Americans in the Fight Against Cybercrime: The Cyber Helpline's Journey

The threat of cybercrime has reached unprecedented levels, affecting individuals and organizations throughout the United States. With almost half of the American adult population having had their personal information exposed by cybercriminals, it has become essential to have accessible and reliable resources to combat these consistent attacks. That is why The Cyber Helpline is excited to announce that we launched our self-help service in the United States on June 1, 2023!

Our mission is to provide vital support, guidance, and resources specifically to individuals and families impacted by cyberattacks, empowering them to navigate the aftermath of such attacks and safeguard both their digital and personal lives. With our user-friendly approach and dedication to comprehensive assistance, we are dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of countless Americans.

A unique chatbot-powered self-help service

At the core of our services is our intelligent chatbot, designed to assist users in navigating the aftermath of cyberattacks. We believe in eliminating technical jargon and embracing plain English to ensure that anyone, regardless of their technical knowledge, can effectively communicate their concerns and understand how to overcome the cyberattack. Our chatbot will ask you a series of simple questions to help you summarize your issue. Once we have gathered enough information, our advanced algorithms kick in to match your problem with the type of cyber attack that occurred. From here, the chatbot’s diagnosis will provide you with a direct link to an online guide tailored to your specific situation. This step-by-step guide will provide you with a thorough understanding of the type of cyberattack that occurred, all that it entails, as well as comprehensive advice and instructions on how to recover from the attack.

The Cyber Helpline is proud to offer over 38 guides that cover a range of critical cyber attacks, ranging from unauthorized access and social engineering to ransomware, malware, fraud, scams, cyberbullying, online harassment, digital surveillance, accidents, media reporting, and public breaches. Our goal is to equip people with the knowledge and tools they need in order to take control of their personal information, digital identity, and cybersecurity journey.

Thousands of Americans accessing the service

Since launching the self-help service, The Cyber Helpline and our chatbot have already directly assisted 1,200 victims in the USA, providing them with the necessary support to recover from cyberattacks. Moreover, as our website also serves as an essential hub of resources, we are proud to see that over 8,700 individuals in the United States have engaged with and accessed our informative content.

Following our recent launch, we are taking the next step to enhance our support capabilities by introducing a volunteer helpdesk aspect to our service in the coming months. This expansion will enable us to provide even more comprehensive assistance to individuals and families affected by cyberattacks. The growth of this service will depend on the availability of funding, and we are committed to securing the resources needed to further develop this crucial aspect of our mission.

Cybercrime is having an alarming impact across the United States

The need for our services in the United States is more critical than ever, as recent statistics reveal the alarming impact of cybercrime across the country. According to The Harris Poll, one out of five Americans has fallen victim to and dealt with a ransomware attack. Additionally, The Identity Theft Research Center (ITRC) Annual Data Breach Report highlighted that in 2022, the U.S. witnessed the second-highest number of data compromises in a single year, impacting at least 422 million individuals. Furthermore, states such as California, Florida, and Texas experienced the highest number of cybercrime victims in 2021, as reported by the Insurance Information Institute (III). These numbers underscore the urgency to address cyber threats and provide essential resources and support to individuals and families affected by these crimes.

Understanding the urgency and scale of cyber threats across the nation, our purpose is to combat these attacks by focusing on supporting families and individuals that fall victim to cyber criminals. That is why we decided to launch The Cyber Helpline in the USA. By expanding our reach, our goal is to empower Americans in the fight against cybercrime by providing indispensable resources and personalized support to effectively combat cyber threats. With our user-friendly chatbot, comprehensive guides, and expert Helpline Responders, our aim is to reduce the likelihood of these attacks reoccurring and bring about a positive shift in the overall number of cyberattacks that occur. Together, we will create a safer and more secure digital environment for all.
